City police, deputies make battery arrests

Morgan City police and St. Mary deputies reported four arrests on battery charges over the weekend.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office reported arrests on drug charges in the Amelia and Bayou L’Ourse area.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 72-hour period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 106 calls for service and made these arrests:

--Aldwin R. Cox, 57, Union Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:24 a.m. Friday on a charge of second-degree battery.

--Kaleb K. Anthony, 20, Crestwood Street, Baton Rouge, was arrested at 11:19 a.m. Saturday on charges of battery on a dating partner and possession of marijuana.

--Tyler J. Aucoin, 34, Brownell Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:13 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging three counts of failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City).

--Shandice Harris, 34, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:05 a.m. Saturday on warrants alleging criminal neglect of family and two counts of failure to appear for
arraignment (16th Judicial District Court).

--Christopher D. Barr, 40, McComb, Mississippi, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. Saturday on charges of theft (under $1,000), criminal trespass, possession of marijuana, resisting an officer and obstruction of justice (evidence tampering).

--James Duhon III, 49, Ricohoc Drive, Franklin, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of Adderall and a warrant alleging theft (under $1,000).

--Christian C. Womack, 35, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested 1:02 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging telephone harassment.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 92 complaints and made these arrests:

--Russel Lee Pfotenhauer, 41, Franklin, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Friday on charges of aggravated battery and simple criminal damage to property.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Felton Charles, 70, New Iberia, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging simple battery. Charles was released on a $2,500 bond.

--Mark Anthony Hilliard Sr., 40, Patterson, was arrested at 10:54 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse child endangerment law. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Walter Josua Martinez-Galvez, 32, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:47 p.m. Friday on charges of hit and run, driving while intoxicated and driver must be licensed. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Shane Steven Gibson, 25, Franklin, was arrested at 6:19 p.m. May 10 on a charge of illegal carrying of a weapon. Bail was set at $5,000.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:

--Tina Chaynee Williams, 19, La. 662, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges arise from a traffic stop Sunday near Amelia.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on La. 662 with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. At the time, the deputy noted swift movement by the front seat passenger.

The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Robert Wayne Toups Jr., 43 Vivian Street, Bayou L’Ourse. The deputy interviewed the driver, then proceeded to interview the passenger, now identified as Williams. The deputy noted behavior consistent with illegal drug activity and concluded that additional investigation was warranted.

During the process, the deputy requested and was granted consent to search a bag belonging to Williams. During the search, deputies seized a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Williams was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Toups was issued a citation for improper equipment/display of license plate.

--Joshua Louis Becnel, 41, Ash Street, Vacherie, was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, illegal window tint and driving under a suspended driver’s license.

--Michelle Edena Jones, 48, Fandal Street, Gibson, was arrested Saturday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

The charges result from a traffic stop in Bayou L’Ourse on Saturday afternoon.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on La. 182 with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Becnel and proceeded to interview the driver. The deputy then interviewed the passenger, now identified as Jones. At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted.

A K-9 unit was summoned to the location and upon arrival, conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle. The K-9 alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle yielded a quantity of methamphetamine.

Becnel and Jones were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center. They remain incarcerated with bond set at $35,000 for each.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 24 complaints over the past weekend and made these arrests:

--Gerald Dupas, 36, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:25 a.m. Friday on a warrant dated April 16 alleging violation of a protective order. Dupas was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

--Earl Haisley, 52, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Friday on a warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office alleging failure to register as a sex offender, failure as a sex offender to pay annual fee and notification of sex offenders. Haisley was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

--Tasha Soprano, 43, Kirk Street, Franklin, was arrested at 6:03 p.m. Friday on a warrant dated May 8 alleging for theft. Soprano was booked, processed and held on a $1,500 bond.

--Tony Caro, 26, Hamm Street, Franklin, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Saturday on a charge of violation of protective orders. Caro was additionally arrested on a warrant alleging probation violation. Caro was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

--Anson Paul, 46, Liner Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:04 a.m. Sunday on a charge of theft. Paul was booked, processed and released on a $1,500 bond.

--Ronnie Boatman Jr., 45, Carl C. Foulcard Drive, Franklin, was arrested at 5:49 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Boatman was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
