Burglary, battery, drug arrests reported locally

Morgan City and St. Mary authorities reported arrests last week on battery, burglary and drug charges.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

—Devin Toups, 25, Sixth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 10 on a charge of siimple burglary.

—Bryan Lee Lewandowski, 57, Park Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Jan. 10 on a charge of simple battery of the infirm.

—Amanda Fitch, 41, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Jan. 10 on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (16th Judicial District Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported these arrests:

—Olivia Sue Hopson, 31, Dequincy, was arrested at 12:12 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine; illegal use, possession, or control of weapons in a crime of violence or with controlled dangerous substances; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail has not been set at this time.

—Mahmoud Adel Waly, 44, Houma, was arrested at 5:39 p.m. Jan. 10 on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of buprenorphine; possession of MDMA; possession, distribution, or sale of a legend drug without a prescription; possession of drug paraphernalia; and resisting an officer by providing false information.

Bail has not been set at this time.

—Damari Antonio Coleman, 24, Hammond, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. Jan. 10 on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property. Bail was set at $225,000.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

—Delannie Howard, 19, Mill Road, Patterson, was arrested at 12:47 p.m. Thursday on charges of speeding and suspended driver’s license. Howard was booked, processed and released on a $631.50 bond.

—Dereke Guilbeau, 26, Hamm Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:12 p.m. Jan. 10 on warrants for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on charges of illegal carrying of weapons and speeding. Guilbeau was booked, processed and held on a $921 bond.

—Kevin James, 38, Iberia Street, Franklin, while incarcerated at the Franklin Police Department, was arrested at 6 a.m. Thursday on warrants for Baldwin Magistrate Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of no driver’s license and speeding. James was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
