Battery, drug, theft charges among Tuesday arrests

Local police agencies reported arrests Tuesday on charges that included theft, battery and drug possession.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 23 complaints and made these arrests:

--Logan Joshua Thomas, 25, Lafayette, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. Tuesday on charges of maximum speed limit, two counts of possession of Schedule II drugs and no insurance.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Marcus Dewayne Battle, 48, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:53 a.m. Tuesday on two Lafourche Parish warrants alleging failure to appear. Battle is being held for another agency.

--Sable Ann Leal, 33, Gibson, was arrested at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 47 calls for service and made these arrests:

--Joseph Burton, 48, First Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging probation violation (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--King R. Hargrove, 35, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested 5:38 p.m. Tuesday on charges of simple battery and resisting an officer.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to five complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and this arrest:

--Anson Paul, 46, Liner Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday on charges of theft and simple criminal damage to property. Paul was booked, processed and held on a $2,500 bond.
