Battery, drug arrests reported by local police

Morgan City police and St. Mary deputies made arrests on battery charges over the weekend, while Morgan City and Assumption authorities also reported drug arrests:

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 133 calls for service over the last 72- hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Jacob G. Fernandez, 36, Bush Street, Morgan City, was arrested 9:01 a.m. Friday on a charge of second-degree battery.

--Christian Martinez-Perez, 35, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Courtney Smith, 35, Fourth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 4:12 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Christian Hernandez, 20, Glenwood Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:43 a.m. Saturday on charges of hit and run and driver must be llcensed.

--Kalyn R. Gros, 34, Pecan Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:52 p.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Demetrius Owens, 30, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:38 a.m. Sunday on charges of remaining where forbidden and simple criminal damage to property.

--Shane J. Granger, 36, Chetta Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:03 p.m. on charges of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and possession of methamphetamine.

--Ryan J. Delahoussaye, 30, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:03 p.m. Sunday on charges of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and possession of methamphetamine.

--Pami Jo Atkinson, 30, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:33 a.m. Monday on a charge of improper supervision of a minor.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 169 complaints and made these arrests:

--Devil Demar Bradley, 30, Gibson, was arrested at 11:54 a.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and possession or carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Tyler Paul Rogers, 29, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Friday on charges of simple battery, disturbing the peace (intoxicated), and resisting arrest or officer. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Christopher Lee Charbonnet, 42, Baton Rouge, was arrested at 6:29 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated, improper lane usage and open container. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Rufus Scott Ackman Jr., 54, Franklin, was arrested at 3:05 p.m. Friday and charges of simple battery and telephone calls (harassment). Bail has been set at $3,000.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported this arrest:

--Bryan H. Gamez, 28, Lindsey Drive, Abbeville, was arrested at 4:10 a.m. Monday on charges of driving with a license that is suspended, revoked, or canceled and speeding 72 mph in a 55 mph zone. Gamez was issued a summons and released.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Christopher P. Dyson, 51, Dubose Road, Rayne, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless operation of a motor vehicle.

The charges followed a traffic stop Sunday on La. 662 in Bayou L'Ourse.

A narcotics officer on assignment observed a westbound vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle.

The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Dyson, and initiated an interview. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

After interviewing the driver, the deputy, acting on driver consent, retrieved suspected marijuana from the center console cover inside of the vehicle.

As the investigation continued, the deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Dyson. During that process, a quantity of methamphetamine was seized. Additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized from the interior of the vehicle.

Dyson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 21 complaints over the weekend and made these arrests:

--Floyd Webber, 60, Martin Luther King Street, Baldwin, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Friday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of driving under suspension. Webber was booked, processed and released on a $350 bond.

--Sunnie Andrepont, 39, Fournerat Road, Eunice, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. Saturday on charges of criminal trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. Andrepont was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

--George Williams, 61, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on charges of driving under suspension and speeding, and on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on charges of criminal mischief and operating a vehicle while license is
suspended.

Williams was additionally arrested on a charge of driving under suspension. Williams was booked, processed, and released on a $4,500 bond.

--Jazzle Rack, 35, Seventh Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:36 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of stop signs and yield signs. Rack was booked, processed and released on a $273 bond.

---Stephen Charpentier, 45, Rynella Road, New Iberia, was arrested at 1:14 p.m. Sunday on charges of speeding, open container, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while license is suspended, security required and possession alprazolam.

Charpentier was booked, processed and held on a $4,500 bond
