Authorities report seven arrests on drug charges, including fentanyl

St. Mary deputies and Morgan City police reported seven arrests on drug charges over the weekend, including two alleging possession of the potentially lethal opioid fentanyl in distribution quantities.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 148 complaints and made these arrests:

--Tirquener Easha Francois, 48, Patterson, was arrested at 4:22 p.m. Friday on charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Bail was set at $12,000.

--Marc Antonio Cooper, 53, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Friday on charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distrbute marijuana.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Wesley Aaron Rink, 28, Patterson, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Sunday on charges of stop signs and yield signs, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and driver must be licensed.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Matayla Diane Jordan, 21, Goldonna, was arrested at 12:17 a.m. Sunday on charges of theft of a motor vehicle and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 120 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Aldwin Renee Cox, 58, Union Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:59 p.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace (drunkenness) and possession of Schedule II drugs.

--Madison Dye, 23, Marylee Street, Franklin was arrested at 8:39 p.m. Friday on 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrants alleging failure to appear for trial and speeding 21 to 25 mph.

--Travis Coler, 42, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:53 a.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams).

--Landon Acosta, 21, Marcel Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Saturday on a Morgan City Police Department warrant alleging violation of a protective order and a charge of prohibited acts (drug paraphernalia.)

--Jonathan Perou, 20, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:54 p.m. Saturday on charges of sale, distribution, or possession of a legend drug without a prescription or order prohibited, and unlawful sale, purchase, or possession of tobacco or vapor products.

--Benjamin Cheramie, 53, Second Street, Morgan City, was arrested 9:37 p.m. Sunday on charges of illegal window tint, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana (less than 14 grams) and prohibited acts (drug paraphernalia), and on 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrants alleging failure to appear to pay fine.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 15 complaints over the weekend and made these arrests:

--Harold Lovely, 37, Guidroz Street, Franklin, was arrested at 3:38 p.m. Friday on charges of reckless operation of a vehicle, resisting an officer and flight from an officer. Lovely was booked, processed, and released on a $1,118 bond.

--Majorie Ruffin, 34, O'Neal Chube Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:55 p.m. Friday on a warrant dated Sept. 19 alleging simple assault. Ruffin was booked, processed and released on a $1,000 bond.
