Authorities make arrests on vehicle theft, drug charges

Morgan City and Franklin police reported three arrests for theft Tuesday and Wednesday, including theft of a motor vehicle. St. Mary deputies reported an arrest on multiple drug possession charges.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 40 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Nicolette Elmore, 46, Judy Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 11:03 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft (under $1,000).

--Brandon Lashawn Fair, 39, Louisiana Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 24 complaints and made these arrests:

--Rodrick Anthony Hunter, 32, Berwick, was arrested at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, and on five warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of possession with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids; possession with intent to distribute cocaine; monetary instrument abuse; possession, distribution, or sale of a legend drug without a prescription; possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal use, consumption, possession or distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17; possession of methamphetamine; and possession of marijuana.

Hunter was also named in an active warrant alleging simple and aggravated escape; driver must be licensed; possession of marijuana; possession of methamphetamine; resisting an officer; and theft, sale, distribution or possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

–Shamus Michael Dardeau, 48, Sunset, was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday on charges of speeding and driving while intoxicated, and on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Whitney James Rogers, 61, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:39 a.m. Wednesday on charges of driving while intoxicated and proper equipment required on vehicles. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Devon Cardell Londo, 24, New Iberia, was arrested at 2:44 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants alleging failure to appear. Bail has not been set at this time.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported this arrest:

--John W. Menser, 44, Judy Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 2:04 p.m. Tuesday on charges of resisting an officer (failure to comply), driver’s license suspended or revoked, and stop sign violation. Menser was incarcerated at the Patterson PD with bond set at $909.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to six complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Anson Paul, 46, Liner Street, Franklin, while incarcerated at the Franklin Police Department, was arrested at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday on six counts of theft. Paul was booked, processed and held on a $9,000 bond.

--Paul Nolan, 43, Logan Street, Lafayette, was arrested at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office alleging five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, two counts of criminal trespass and disturbing the peace (language) language.

Nolan was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

--Dewade Howard, 54, 10th Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of criminal trespassing. Howard was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.
