Amelia resident accused of bank fraud, heroin possession

Morgan City police arrested an Amelia resident Thursday on charges that include identity theft, bank fraud and possession of heroin.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

•Renata Jolene Harris, 44, Village Lane, Amelia, was arrested at 11:56 a.m. Thursday on charges of theft (over $1,000), identity theft, forgery, possession of heroin, bank fraud, resisting an officer, driving under suspension and improper turning.

•Corvion Smith, 23, Ferret Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:12 a.m. Feb. 26 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and window tint violation.

•Jamie Kay Driskill, 35, Rose Street, Berwick, was arrested at 9:21 a.m. Thursday on a charge of failure to appear for trial (16th Judicial District Court).

•Donna Comeaux Davidson, 65, Franklin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:57 p.m. Thursday on charges of access device fraud and theft (under $1,000).

•Demetrius Perro Jr., 18, Cecelia Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of tobacco by a person under 21.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported this arrest:

•John Paul Dehart Jr., 41, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:16 a.m. Feb. 26 on two warrants alleging failure to appear on a charge of simple battery. Bail has not been set at this time.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

•Clayton J. Johnson, 37, Oxford Loop, Patterson, was arrested at 1:34 a.m. Thursday on charges of driver’s license suspended or revoked, driving while intoxicated (second offense), obedience to police officer (weight and standards), and operating a vehicle under suspension for certain prior offenses.

Johnson was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

•Mark Smith, 60, Myrtle Street, Patterson, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Thursday on charges of obscenity, simple battery, possession of marijuana under 14 grams, proper equipment on vehicles, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, three counts of possession of Schedule II drugs, two counts of possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of
drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant for another jurisdiction.

Smith was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported this arrest:

•William Moore, 26, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:39 a.m. Thursday on a warrant dated Feb. 19 alleging violation of protective orders, and was additionally arrested on a charge of violation of protective orders.

Moore was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

•Don Cornelius Jefferson Jr., 25, Centanni Road, Kenner, was booked on charges of felony identity theft, bank fraud, illegal transmission of monetary funds, access device fraud and theft ($5,000-$25,000), and as a fugitive from the Harahan Police Department.

The charges arise from a financial crimes investigation on or about Oct. 16.

Deputies were dispatched to a complaint, at which time it was reported that checks were mailed from the complainant to a vendor. The checks never reached their intended destination and were illegally cashed.

Detectives initiated an investigation and were able to identify Jefferson as a suspect.

Detectives secured arrest warrants for Jefferson, and he was arrested Feb. 24 by the Kenner Police Department.

Jefferson was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
