Amelia man convicted in sex crime case
An Amelia man is awaiting sentencing after his conviction Tuesday for indecent behavior with a juvenile, District Attorney Michael Haik said.
Dong Van Tang, 57, pleaded guilty to that charge. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 12 before Judge Vincent Borne.
Tang as accused of touching a juvenile inappropriately, which prompted an investigation by law enforcement.
A 2024 trial in the case resulted in a mistrial because of juror misconduct, the DA's Office said.
This case previously went to trial in 2024. However, that trial resulted in a mistrial due to juror misconduct.
