Amelia man arrested on sex crime charges

A disturbance call in February led to the arrest Tuesday of an Amelia man on sex crime and child porn charges, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
St. Mary
Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:
•Josue Ruiz-Rodriguez, 22, Amelia, was arrested at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday on two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and three counts of pornography involving juveniles.
On Feb. 22, deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista. The incident was handed over to detectives, who opened an investigation into Ruiz-Rodriguez. As the investigation progressed, detectives learned that Ruiz-Rodriguez had conducted himself inappropriately with a juvenile.
Further investigation of Ruiz-Rodriguez’s phone led to the discovery of pornography involving a juveniles. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On Tuesday, detectives made contact with Ruiz-Rodriguez and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for booking.
Bail was set at $30,000.
•Jacoby Levon Westley, 37, Franklin, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 6:32 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of cocaine, obstruction of justice, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper equipment on vehicles.
Bail has not been set at this time.
•Darius Jackson, 36, Franklin, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 9:10 p.m. Monday on charges of taillight required and resisting an officer, and on a failure to appear warrant on a child support charge and a probation warrant from Florida.
Bail was set at $24,917.05, and a hold was placed on Jackson for another agency.
•Gerald Bradley Jr., 59, Raceland, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 2:44 p.m. Monday on a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant alleging shoplifting. Bradley is being held for another agency.
Morgan City
Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:
•Walter Vaughn, 65, Ann Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday on charges of improper lane usage and possession of drug paraphernalia. (Released on summons.)
•Tiesha Carbin, 33, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to comply with drug court (16th Judicial District Court).
•De’arius Young, 26, Eighth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday on charges of vaping marijuana in a motor vehicle, improper lane usage and speeding. (Released on summons.)
•Malik Robertson, 23, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense), possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.
•Jorge Elizondo, 39, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:10 a.m. Monday on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
•Keith Singleton, Bowman Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Monday on a charge of theft (under $1,000).
Patterson
Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:
•Carl J. Singleton, 29, Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 9:51 a.m. Monday on charges of aggravated battery of a dating partner and simple criminal damage to property. Singleton was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.
•David J. Hayes, 39, Gerami Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of driver’s license suspended or revoked, motorcycle endorsement required and stop sign violation. Hayes was released on a summons.
•Javante L. Davis, 28, Cedar Hill Circle, New Iberia, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday on charges of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I drug, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of drug
paraphernalia and no insurance.
Franklin
Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:
•Braylan Hamilton, 18, Augustine Maze Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday on charges of smoking prohibited in any public building, possession of tobacco under age 21 and resisting an officer.
Hamilton was booked, processed and held on a $2,000 bond.
•Roderick Preston, 18, Anderson Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of violation of a firearm-free zone. Preston was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.
•Carl Joseph Jr., 31, Trowbridge Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:06 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of remaining where forbidden. Joseph was booked, processed and held on a $500 bond.
•Elijah Smith, 20, West Ibert Street, Franklin, turned himself in to the Franklin Police Department at 10:20 a.m. Monday on a warrant dated March 10 alleging principal to attempted first-degree murder, principal to illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and simple assault. Smith was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary
Parish Law Enforcement Center.
•Angela Johnson, 50, Morris St., Franklin, was arrested at 8:05 p.m. Monday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of stop signs and yield signs. Johnson was booked, processed and released on a $161 bond.
•Alicia Sereal, 41, Robert Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging principal to theft of a motor vehicle and simple assault. Sereal was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
•Gajan Reed, 39, Ash Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging theft of a motor vehicle and simple assault. Reed was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
