Morgan City will host high school anglers, Junior Bassmaster teams

Morgan City will welcome 170 of Louisiana’s top high school and Junior Bassmaster teams as they on the Atchafalaya Basin and Verrett Lake Basin April 22-23 from Doiron’s Landing in Morgan City for the 2023 Louisiana Youth BASS Nation State Championship Presented by TC Energy.

Teams competed in qualifiers of three separate tournament trails starting last September and had to finish in the top 10% of one of those to qualify for the prestigious event.
High school teams will compete on both days with a full field vying for the coveted spot in the BASS High School National Championship to be held in the summer at a location not yet revealed.

Junior Bassmaster teams will compete on Saturday only and they will be battling for the automatic bid to the Junior Bassmaster National Championship, also to be held this summer.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. April 21 with the 2023 LYBN Awards Banquet and tournament briefing hosted by Cajun Coast Convention and Tourism Bureau and Doiron’s Landing. It will be held at the Berwick Civic Center, 300 Pattie Drive, Berwick.

Doiron’s Landing, 3185 La. 70, Morgan City, will be the location of the weigh-in each day starting around 1:30 p.m. for the Junior Bassmasters and 3 p.m. for the high school event.

You’re invited to watch these young anglers and their passion for the sport of fishing.
