Things to do this weekend

Batter up
Four St. Mary teams begin play Friday in the LHSAA softball playoffs first round:
—Morgan City High, the 18th seed in Non-Select Division II, will play at No. 15 Loranger. The winner will play April 17 against No. 2 Lutcher.
—Central Catholic, the 15th seed in Select Division IV, will host No. 18 Slaughter Community Charter. The winner will play No. 2 Catholic-Pointe Coupee on April 17.
—Berwick, seeded 21st in Non-Select Division III, will be at No. 12 Mamou. The winner will be at No. 5 Jena on April 17.
—No. 23 Hanson Memorial, also in Select Division IV, will be at No. 10 Central Private. The winner will play No. 7 St. Mary on April 17.

If the dock is rockin' ...
LowDown will be on stage 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday at Morgan City’s Rockin’ the Dock.
Food and cocktails from Café JoJo’s will be available.

Best in brew
Downtown Morgan City will also be the site for Saturday’s Basin Brew Fest, offering samples of Louisiana craft beers.
VIP tickets are $65 and are good for the 2-3 p.m. VIP-only hour with unlimited 2-ounce samples and a tap trailer ticket, plus promotional items.
General admission tickets are $40 and are good for entry 3-6 p.m. and unlimited 2-ounce samples.
The food court returns this year.
You must be 21 or older to be admitted.
The event raises money for improvements at Lawrence Park.
