Patterson downs rival Panthers
For the last five years, the Patterson Lumberjacks have beat rival Berwick. With possession of the brag rag, the Lumberjacks traveled into Berwick to make it six in a row with a 42-6 victory.
The game started with back-to-back interceptions. Jace Ogwin recorded one for Patterson, and Layf Bella had one for the Panthers.
The defensive battle would continue for majority of the first quarter, but with about three minuets left, Daylon Jones scored the first touchdown of the game. Patterson’s defense would then continue its dominance in the second quarter, pitching a shutout. They also tacked on 14 points in the second quarter to make it a 21-0 game at halftime.
Patterson continued to play great defense in the second half, not allowing Berwick to score until early in the fourth quarter. Patterson would also score three more times in the second half.
Patterson wins control of the brag rag for the sixth year in a row, and also earns their first win of the season.
Berwick travels to Donaldsonville on Thursday to try and earn their second win of the season. Donaldsonville comes into this game with a 6-2 record.
Patterson, 1-7, will be at St. James, 6-2, on Friday.
