Ochsner St. Mary gets an A for patient safety

Ochsner St. Mary of Morgan City is one of eight Ochsner Health facilities, including three partner facilities, that earned an A grade for Fall 2021 Hospital Safety The Leapfrog Group.
The grade recognizes efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. Ochsner hospitals and partner facilities earning this honor are:
—Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center (Ochsner partner).
—Ochsner Baptist, A campus of Ochsner Medical Center.
—Ochsner Medical Center. Hancock.
—Ochsner Medical Center, North Shore.
—Ochsner Medical Center, West Bank.
—Ochsner St. Mary.
—St. Bernard Parish Hospital (Ochsner partner)
—St. Charles Parish Hospital (Ochsner partner).
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients.
The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
