Morgan City mayor's reward offer grows after theft of welding lead
Morgan City Mayor Lee Dragna is offering a reward for welding supplies stolen from his Amelia business, and the amount is going up.
In a Facebook post Wednesday evening, Dragna posted, "I’m offering a $2500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the thief that stole welding lead from my McDermott (Amelia) yard. You will stay anonymous."
That was followed by another post Thursday morning:
"I can not stand a thief. I’m now offering a $10,000 cash reward ( you stay anonymous) for the information to the arrest of the people stealing lead from LAD [Dragna's business] in Amelia. This is not the reputation we want in Morgan city."
Then, at midday Thursday:
"I believe that money will prevail in this situation. I’m increasing the reward to $15,000 for catching the persons that stole the welding lead from my Amelia yard. This will stop."
Dragna asked readers to share the posts and to call 985-397-2274 with information about the theft.
Callers can remain anonymous, the mayor said.
