Local McDonald's celebrates renovations

Bayou Vista McDonald’s held a VIP Party and Ribbon-Cutting on Nov. 28 to mark the completion of the newly rebuilt and technically modern restaurant.
It opened to the public on Nov. 29, just a little more than four months after the demolition of the old building.
Owners-operators Terry and Carita Wilburn hosted the event along with store General Manager Nancy Pleasant.
The McDonald’s in Bayou Vista was originally built in 1985 by owner-operator Frank Slavik.
“It opened on my birthday (Dec. 12),” said Terry Wilburn, who at the time was a McDonald’s business consultant.
The Wilburns purchased the Bayou Vista franchise in 1992.
“All the experience of the future McDonald’s can have is here,” said Terry Wilburn of the Bayou Vista location. There are 72 crew members who service the Bayou Vista restaurant.
Patrons can now order multiple ways. Inside, Guest Experience Leaders will greet customers in the lobby and offer to help teach them about the new double-sided kiosks used for ordering. Place a kiosk order and pay with a debit or credit card. Customers collect their ticket and pick up a numbered table tent then have a seat to wait for the meal to be delivered.
A McDonald’s mobile app is available so customers can order and pay by phone then drive up to the designated parking stall for meal delivery.
Customers choosing drive-thru at the Bayou Vista McDonald’s now have dual lanes in which to order. The two lanes are expected to make for faster service.
Children have access to a new indoor PlayPlace offering a multiple-level climber experience, a slide and interactive musical morphs. There is also a PlayPlace restroom for the convenience of parents and their children.
