Members of St. Mary Excel, a citizens group focusing on local development and resilience, met with Dr. Robert Twilley, fourth from left, Tuesday and presented him with his Atchafalaya zone LANERR shirt. Gov. John Bel Edwards recently nominated the Atchafalaya Basin as the site for a national estuarine research reserve. Twilley has done research on delta development in the Basin and is a former executive director of Louisiana Sea Grant, which oversaw the selection process.
