St. Mary Parish saw little rainfall Wednesday night and into Thursday morning with wind gusts topping out just over 30 mph after Tropical Storm Cindy made landfall early Thursday.

The St. Martin Parish School Board, summer school and other recreational activities are cancelled on Thursday, Schools Superintendent Lottie Beebe said in an email.
A tree fell early Wednesday on Taft Street between Second and Third streets in Patterson, Mayor Rodney Grogan said.

U.S. Coast Guard officials say they are fully prepared for whatever Tropical Storm Cindy brings, but don't expect to have to close any ports in the region.
