Second stage of costruction project to begin at port
Southern Constructors of Iberia Parish was awarded a $132,500 bid Tuesday at the monthly meeting of the board of the Port of West St. Mary.
The award marks the beginning of stage two of an ongoing Department of Transportation and Development construction project at the port.
Stage two of the 4-stage project will deal with the construction of a sand blasting building.
Reid Miller of Miller Engineers reported the plans for stage three are being drawn up now and will soon be ready to be sent to Baton Rouge for approval.
Also, a resolution was passed to certify compliance with public bid laws concerning the air compressor from stage one of the project, a requirement for the records of the DOTD.
Finally, it was reported the port’s Economic Development Administration Project is in its culminating stages of revue by the bureau at the Department of Commerce. An award will likely come soon.
