Refuge friends set art workshop

The Friends of Bayou Teche National Wildlife Refuge, with support of the West End Branch Library in Baldwin, is hosting an “Art of Nature Watercolor Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 21.
Award winning artist Darnell L. Delcambre will instruct this free watercolor basics workshop designed for adults. Delcambre enjoys watercolor painting and outdoor photography of the Acadiana area. She was received numerous awards for her photography and art in addition to her floral designs and cooking awards.
Her work was selected for the Art Showcase for the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion Exhibit. She has received recognition from Louisiana Public Broadcasting Emerging Artists Exhibition, the Lafayette Art Association, Crowley Art Association, Gardenia Society Art Show, Sugar Cane Festival Floral Design and Horticulture Show, Sugar Cane Festival Art show and was selected to participate in this year’s Shadows-on-the-Teche Plein Air Competition.
Delcambre’s still life was selected for the Southern Open at the Acadiana Arts Council in Lafayette. She currently teaches watercolor basics at A& E Gallery and has enjoyed being active on the cultural scene for the past 15 years.
Registration is required to attend the watercolor basics workshop due to limited space and supplies. To register call the library at 337-923- 6205. This event is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts.
