'Grandeur On the Bayou" March 25 at Young-Sanders
Thomas F. Kramer M.D. will present a slide presentation entitled “Grandeur On The Bayou, The Antebellum Homes of the Franklin, Louisiana Area”, March 25 at the Young-Sanders Center for the Study of the War Between the States in Louisiana in Franklin
The program will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Thomas Frere Kramer is a native of St. Mary Parish, where some members of his family have resided for nine generations. He is retired and has practiced obstetrics and gynecology for thirty-five years. Dr. Kramer is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in 1953. After med school, between 1955 and 1957, he was stationed in England with the rank of Major in the United States Air Force.
Kramer’s research of the antebellum homes of Franklin began as a project for the Louisiana Preservation Alliance who held its 18th annual conference in Franklin in June, 1996. Dr. Kramer and his wife Glenna were chairpersons for the event. He has published a booklet which will be available for purchase. All proceeds of the sale of his publication will go to St. Mary Chapter, Louisiana Landmarks Society.
He has also published a genealogy book on his ancestors entitled “A Family Montage, Being the Families Kramer, Frere, Foster, Marsh, Gates and Allied Families.”
The Young-Sanders Center is located at 701 Teche Drive in Franklin. The building faces Bayou Teche one block from the St. Mary Parish Courthouse.
