Council of Governments recognizes Mayor Harris
St. Mary Council of Governments welcomed Patterson’s new police chief, St. Mary Parish’s new chief deputy coroner and recognized the service of outgoing Franklin Mayor Raymond Harris, Tuesday, during their meeting at the Forest Restaurant.
Patterson Police Chief Janis Merritt remarked, “As most of you know, I’m not really talkative. I appreciate all of your support, all of your prayers and don’t be too surprised if I call.”
The parish’s retiring coroner, Dr. F.H. Metz Jr., M.D., bestowed official badges to their new respective trustees: the coroner’s badge to Interim Coroner, Dr. N. Trey Morice, M.D. and the chief deputy coroner’s badge to Dr. Lianter W. Albert, M.D.
Harris accepted his award of recognition for 31 years of service, from St. Mary Parish Councilman Dale Rogers, saying, “The time went by fast. I enjoyed my time as CFO and I enjoyed my time as mayor. It’s been a labor of love. I’ve enjoyed serving the people of Franklin.”
