City hosts grand opening of Historic Pocket Park
The City of Franklin dedicated the Historic Downtown Franklin Pocket Park Saturday.
The ceremony included the dedication of the memorial fountain and the sculpture unveiling.
Located on Main Street, the grand opening include a remembrance of Mayci Breaux, who was killed in gun violence at a Lafayette movie theatre.
The event also included:
—A prayer and blessing of the park by Rev. Fr. Joel Faulk
—The National Anthem performed by Lavergne Singleton
—Welcome and acknowledgment by Mayor Eugene Foulcard
—A history of the park space by Glenn Todd
—A memorial to Mayci Breaux and victims of gun violence by Ed “Tiger” Verdin
—An unveiling of the Mayci Breaux memorial by Mayor Foulcard and Glenn Todd
—A musical selection by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra
—And a reverse ribbon cutting.
