Sheriff: Narcotics detectives find drugs, money and drug paraphernalia at Morgan City apartment resulting in double arrest.

Two Morgan City residents were arrested Monday on multiple drug charges in a drug-free zone, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith reported in a news release.
—Keith Clark, 45, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of Schedule I drugs with the intent to distribute (heroin), possession of Schedule II drugs with the intent to distribute (crack cocaine), possession of Schedule II drugs (methamphetamine), transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a drug-free zone church, park.
—Ciara Percle, 32, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Monday on charges of accessories possession of Schedule I drugs with the intent to distribute (heroin), accessory possession of Schedule II drugs with the intent to distribute (crack cocaine), possession of Schedule II drugs (methamphetamine), transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a drug-free zone church, park.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a Fifth Street apartment in Morgan City. During the search of the residence, narcotics detectives located drugs and money from drug proceeds. The residence is located less than 2,000 feet from a church and a park. Clark and Percle were jailed. No bail has been set on Clark and Percle.
Smith also reported that the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and made the following arrests:
—Hector Tolento Jr., 21, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday on charges of speeding and driving under suspension. A deputy was stationary on La. 182 in Amelia when he observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified Tolento as the driver. The deputy learned that Tolento was driving under suspension, Smith said. Tolento was jailed and released with a summons to appear in court Oct. 16.
Morgan City Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the department responded to 47 calls of service and the following arrests were made:
—Victor Chopin, 58, of Nevada Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:52 p.m. Sunday on charges of reckless operation and driving while intoxicated. Officers were called to the area of La. 70 in reference to a reckless driver. Officers learned the vehicle had parked at a local business and the driver went inside.
Officers met with the complainant and were given a description of the driver. Officers were able to locate the driver inside the business and identify him as Chopin. Upon officers making contact with Chopin, officers suspected driver impairment. Chopin was transported to a medical facility and a blood sample was obtained for testing at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. He was jailed.
—Sydnie Lynn Wain-wright, 22, of Landry Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:45 a.m. Monday on a charge of simple battery. While incarcerated in the Morgan City Police Department jail, Wainwright committed a battery on another inmate. She was placed under arrest and booked for the battery.
—Tori Smith, 25, of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Monday on warrants for theft under $1,000 and criminal trespassing. The warrant stems from a Feb. 26 incident investigated by the Patrol Division.
Officers responded to a complaint of a theft at a local business on La. 182. During the officer’s investigation, one of the suspects was identified as Smith. It was learned she had been previously barred from the business. The investigating officer learned Smith and another person left the store with 13 items valued at $80 without paying for them. On July 29, Smith was located at the Berwick Police Department. She was jailed.
—Ciara David Percle, 32, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:11 a.m. Tuesday on warrants for seven counts of failure to appear and two counts of contempt of court. Percle was located at the Morgan City Police Department and booked on warrants held by the City Court of Morgan City. She was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reported the following arrest:
—Denise Mason, 42, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday on charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension, expired MDI, and no insurance. She was jailed with bond set at $504.
Patterson Police Chief Garrett Grogan reported there were no arrests.
