Ava Grace Lang, 23-month-old daughter of William and Alisa (Wade) Lang of Franklin and formerly of Patterson, competed Jan. 19 in the Very Special Miss Louisiana Pageant held at Oak Tree Church in Hammond. She was crowned queen in the 12- to 23-month-old division. Ava Grace was diagnosed with Down syndrome and has had several surgeries including open heart surgery. She will travel to several festivals and gatherings throughout Louisiana to represent her title.

On Jan. 19, Zoë Rose Reed, daughter of Mickenzie Reed of Berwick, participated in the 2019 Very Special Miss Louisiana Pageant at Oak Tree Church in Hammond. She was crowned queen in the 2-year-old division and received a crown, sash and trophy. This is the fifth year for the pageant that is for girls with disabilities and benefits TARC of Hammond. She will travel to several festivals and gatherings throughout Louisiana to represent her title.
