Show offer more than plants for gardeners

To get ready for the garden season, the AgCenter has announced garden shows happening throughout Louisiana, starting in February. Among them:
•Baton Rouge Spring Garden Show, March 7 to 9
The 22nd Annual Baton Rouge Spring Garden Show will be held at the John M. Parker Coliseum on LSU campus.
General admission is $10 per person, and children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. LSU and Southern University students can get in free with a student ID. For additional information, please call Brayden Echols at 225-578-1890 or email at MEchols@agcenter.lsu.edu
•Northshore Garden and Plant Sale, March 28 to 29
The Northshore Garden and Plant Sale will be at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds and will be held by the St. Tammany Master Gardeners Association Each day will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will be present selling roses, native plants, day lilies, vegetables, shrubs and trees.

•2025 Southwest Louisiana Garden Conference and Expo, March 28 to 29
The 2025 Southwest Louisiana Garden Conference and Expo will be hosted 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day at the Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles
The event will include more than 60 vendors, including non-profit horticultural clubs and Master Gardeners as well as businesses selling different plants, furniture and outdoor decorating items. Local Master Gardeners will also have a Plant Health Booth at the festival and a Flower Show will be hosted by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation District 7.

•Third Annual Spring Garden and Pet Show, March 29 to 30
The Third Annual Spring Garden and Pet Show is presented by River Road Historical Society in collaboration with LSU AgCenter and Louisiana Master Gardeners and will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at 13034 River Road, Destrehan.
At the Garden and Pet Show, visitors will be able to buy from plant nurseries, small businesses and arts and crafts vendors, adopt pets from rescue shelters, attend educational seminars and enjoy live music. There will also be activities for children, including an Arts and Crafts Tent, a butterfly discovery tent from the AgCenter and an Easter Egg Hunt.
The admission is $5 and free for children under 5. More information can be found at the Destrehan Plantation website.
•New Orleans Spring Garden Show, April 5-6
New Orleans will be hosting its Spring Garden Show on April 5 and April 6. Both days will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
The show is sponsored by City Park Conservancy and LSU AgCenter’s Cooperative Extension Service, and is supported by Louisiana Master Gardener volunteers.
At the show, there will be exhibits on plant and garden products, as well as educational programs, arts and crafts and a children’s discovery area.

•Hammond Spring Garden Day and Plant Sale, April 12
The LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station will host the 2025 Hammond Spring Garden Day and Plant Sale on April 12. The event will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event will feature exhibits, seminars and advice on gardening along with a plant sale and activities for kids. There will also be concessions.
The LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station is located at 21549 Old Covington Highway in Hammond.
