Plantfest 2023 set in Lafayette

Plantfest, the annual fall plant sale and community fair hosted by the Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners Association, will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Master Gardener Demo Beds on Coliseum Street next to Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette.
There will be speakers every hour beginning at 9 a.m. and a variety of children’s activities. Door prizes will be given away every 30 minutes.
In addition to plants for sale, there will be unique varieties of vegetable seeds, garden books and magazines for sale.
Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners will be raffling prizes including a pressure washer, $150 gift certificate to All Seasons Nursery and a swivel seat garden stool and tools.
Representatives from various plant societies will be exhibiting at the event.
An “Ask-A-Master Gardener” representative will be on site to assist with plant questions.

Proceeds from LPMGA plant sales are used to fund community education programs both for adults and children. These include school garden programs in 10 schools, Garden Talks with varying speakers twice a month; the Medicinal Garden at Vermilionville; Speakers Bureau for community events; Habitat for Humanity homes; demonstration garden beds at the Ira Nelson Horticulture Center, and more.

—11 a.m. “Fall veggie planting — Simple ways to include fall greens into the menu,” Kathy Troyanowski, LPMG.
—Noon “Planting according to the moon: Learn what your Forefathers Knew — Have fun and pass it on,” LJ Delcambre, LPMG.
