The tradition of the St. Joseph Altar at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson will continue on March. 19. The public is invited to partake in the meal and to view the altar dedicated to the Catholic patron saint.

Patterson St. Joseph Altar set March 19
The celebration of the St. Joseph Altar, honoring the patron saint on his feast day, has become a tradition at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. This year’s celebration is March 19.
Each year the celebration is an act if humility where all food and decorations are derived from the generosity of friends and neighbors. The altar is adorned with many decorative cakes, cookies and specialty breads all of which are handmade by volunteers and derived from donated ingredients.
Festivities will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 1011 First St. in Patterson, beginning with an opening Mass celebrated at 9 a.m. with Bishop John Douglas Deshotel. Procession of the saints for the meal will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A meal served to the public will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until all food has been served.
Altar viewing is open until 4 p.m.
Any remaining cakes and cookies will be donated the needy of the area in keeping with spirit of the St. Joseph Altar.
