2022 Beautillion King Demetry de’Clouet

Delta Sigma presents a virtual cotillion/beautillion

Kierah Nicole Paul was crowned 2022 Debutante Queen and Demetry de’Clouet as 2022 Beautillion King during the Franklin-Jeanerette Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's 2022 Virtual Cotillion/Beautillion June 11 at the West St. Mary Civic Center.
Theme for the event was “Debutantes and Beaus: Rising Through the Embers of Society.”
Honorary sorority member Andra Day sang the theme song, “Rise Up.” Event chairperson was Pearl Barnes-Rack and co-chairs were Carolyn A. Francis, Mary Grimm-Howard, Fallon Mitchell and Alexis Rack. Chapter President was Lue Pearl Washington.
Debutantes and beaux participated in various virtual activities and educational clinics from January to June as they proceeded toward the culmination of the societal debut experience. During the grand finale, 2019-20 Delta Queen Milahn Dukes served as mistress of ceremony and 2018-19 Delta King Daylon Richard was master of ceremony.
Minister Sherry Mathews gave the invocation. Lester Levine, Franklin Mayor pro-tem, was toastmaster. Royalty was presented by Tryone “Ben” Johnson, 100 Black Men Organization representative.
The event was dedicated to late sorors Sylvia K. Lockett and Pamela de’Clouet Cooper.
Presenting Paul with her crown was her mother Chasity Paul and her brother Samarick Paul.
The queen is a graduate of Berwick High School and plans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans majoring in pre-med/biology. She also earned the Debutante Award, Congeniality Award, Community Service Award, Best Female Virtual Fashion Show Presentation Award, Highest Debutante GPA, Best Tour Portfolio Award, Most Cooperative Debutante Award, second runner up in ad sales and Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship Award.
First runner up Teiylar Leon was presented by her mother Chasity Maneaux and godfather the Rev. Paul Godfrey. Leon, a Franklin High graduate, attends the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is majoring in biology/pre-med. She earned the Debutante Award, Innovative Award, Sweetheart Award and Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship Award.
Presenting de’Clouet, son of the late Pamela de’Clouet Cooper, was his godparents Joanna and Cornell de’Clouet.
The king graduated from Jeanerette High School and attends Grambling State University majoring in business management. His vocational aspiration is to become a sports attorney. He earned the Beau Award, Best Male Virtual Fashion Show Presentation Award, Distinguished Beau Award, Highest Overall GPA, Souvenir Book Award and Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship Award.
First runner up Tre’Jhon Tywan Teno was presented by his parents Kawanee Teno and Donavon Lewis. The West St. Mary High School graduate attends Fletcher Technical Community College in Schriever majoring in computer science. He earned the Beau Award, Most Cooperative Beau, Commemorative Award, first runner up in ad sales and Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship Award.
Second runner up Westley Dean Lamb Jr. was presented by his mother LaDale Webster and Tajh Guilbeau. He is also the son of Westley Dean Lamb Sr. He graduated William B. Travis High School in Katy, Texas, and will attend Southern University in Baton Rouge in the fall to major in business administration. He was presented the Beau Award and Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship Award.
Other sorority committee members included Doris Hawkins-Metz, Cheryl Bertrand, Karen Salone-Smith, Tanya Johnson-Anderson, Ericka Wilson-McDaniel, Karen Grimm, Connie Lewis, Shirley Purvey, Pauline Johnson, Denise Teno, Carrie Johnson, Dr. Katherine Drexler, Jeanette Favors, Tawana Carson-Colbert, Debra Jones, Brenda Moore-Ferguson, Violet Watson-Jones, Shelly Fontenot, Quantie Brown, Nekesia Bowie and Carolin Brown.
Chapter president is Alexis Rack.
