West St. Mary brings home win over Jeanerette, 14-8

JEANERETTE _ Junior wide receiver Kobe Phillips caught a pair of 30-yard touchdowns from quarterback Taylun Druilhet Friday, lifting the West St. Mary Wolfpack to a 14-8 District 7-2A victory over the Jeanerette Tigers here at JHS Stadium.
With the win, West St. Mary improved to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in district play.
Jeanerette slipped to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Jeanerette jumped outfront by an 8-0 score on a 3-yard run by Shonathon Sparrow, who also made good on the two-point conversion.
Phillips hauled in the first of his two 30-yard TDs from Druilhet in the third quarter prior to Druilhet hooking up with Daylon Druilhet on the two-point conversion, helping WSM knot the game at 8-8 in the third quarter.
Phillips and Druilhet hooked up on another 30-yard scoring strike later in the third stanza as the Wolfpack pulled out the come-from-behind 16-8 District 7-2A victory.
West St. Mary has an open date this Friday.
