MCHS wins fifth straight game

Tigers defeat Berwick

The Morgan City Lady Tigers won their fifth straight contest with a 68-13 rout of Grand Isle at home Tuesday.
Alisha Singleton led three Lady Tigers in double figures with 21 points. She added three assists. Other Morgan City contributors were Hailey Lewis, 17 points, two rebounds and three steals; Haylie Crappell, 11 points, four rebounds and three assists; Courtney Welch, six points; Sh’Diamond Holly, four points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals; Anaria Clark, four points, five rebounds and two assists; India Richardson, three points and two rebounds; and Indeara Chenevert, two points and five rebounds.
Morgan City (8-6) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face St. Thomas More.
Tigers ease by Berwick
The Morgan City Tigers eased past Berwick 67-45 in Berwick Tuesday.
Morgan City took a 21-13 lead after a quarter of play, led 36-21 at the half and 49-33 after three quarters.
Josh Carver led Berwick with 14 points. Other Berwick scorers were Donald Tillman, nine; Travis Whitehead, seven; and Patrick Robertson and Reggie James, five each.
Morgan City had four players in double figures led by Kerwin Francois, Ke’Sean Francois and Tywaun Walker with 12 points each. Other Morgan City scorers were Morrquise Charles, 10; Jared Singleton, nine; Taaj Daniels, four; Deondre Grogan and Brandon Jones, three each; and Zion Landry, two.
Morgan City (8-1) will return to action Wednesday at 6 p.m. when it begins play in New Iberia’s tournament against White Castle.
Berwick (3-5) will begin play in Patterson’s tournament Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. contest against South Lafourche.
CCHS falls to VC
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles dropped a 55-48 decision to Vermilion Catholic in Abbeville Tuesday.
Lay Bertrand led the team with 20 points, while Aaliyah Poole had 16 and Yani Johnson, 10.
Central Catholic (4-5) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in Hanson’s tournament with a 6 p.m. contest against Patterson.
