MCHS Lady Tigers cap perfect 7-4A season
The Morgan City Lady Tigers capped a perfect District 7-4A season with a 10-0 victory against South Lafourche in five innings in Morgan City Tuesday.
Morgan City led 1-0 after an inning and scored three runs apiece in the second and third innings for a 7-0 lead. The Lady Tigers added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game via a run-rule.
Morgan City outhit South Lafourche 9-2.
The Lady Tigers were led on the mound and at the plate by Kennedy Hebert. Hebert tossed a complete-game two-hitter.
In five innings, she fanned 10. Hebert threw 55 pitches, 43 for strikes.
Offensively, she finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and seven RBIs.
Other top Lady Tiger offensive contributors were: Allie Vincent, 2-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base and two runs; Haylie Crappell, 2-for-3, an RBI and a stolen base; and Mattie Rivere, 1-for-3, a double and two runs.
Morgan City (18-3 overall, 6-0 in district) will return to action Saturday at Destrehan’s round robin. The Lady Tigers will meet Ponchatoula at 11:30 a.m. and Dutchtown at 2 p.m.
CCHS routs Centerville
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles run-ruled Centerville, 15-5, in five innings in District 7-1A action in Bayou Vista Thursday.
Central Catholic took a 2-0 lead after an inning, but Centerville responded with three runs in the second and one more in the third for a 4-2 advantage.
However, Central Catholic erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third for a 10-4 lead, and after Centerville added a run in the top of the fourth, Central Catholic added five more in the bottom of the frame. The game was called after the top of the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Sara Thomas earned the win. In five innings, she surrendered five runs (three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts.
Central Catholic outhit Centerville, 12-6.
Taylor Picou led Central Catholic with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, a home run, five RBIs and two runs.
Other top Central Catholic offensive contributors were: Alanni Landry, 2-for-3, with four RBIs and two runs; Brooke Lipari and Rylie Jeau Theriot, each 2-for-3, with an RBI and two runs; Kelly Russo, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; and Haley Fontenot, 1-for-4, an RBI and two runs.
Central Catholic (19-4, 9-2) will return to action this weekend when it participates in St. Thomas More’s Catholic Tournament. The Lady Eagles will meet Holy Savior Menard at 6:05 p.m. at the Broussard Complex, while Saturday, Central Catholic will meet De La Salle at 2:30 p.m. and Cabrini at 4:45 p.m., both at Pelican Park.
Berwick falls to North Vermilion
Berwick fell to North Vermilion, 8-0, in District 8-3A action on the road Thursday.
No individual stats were available.
The Lady Panthers (9-16, 3-7) will return to action this weekend when it participates in Iota’s tournament.
Patterson falls to Kaplan
T h e P a t t e r s o n Lumberjills fell to Kaplan High School, 15-0, on the road Thursday in District 8-3A action.
No individual statistics were available.
Patterson (11-14, 3-7) will close its regular season Tuesday at Thibodaux in a 5 p.m. contest.
