Brent Ina tags home plate as Franklin came up short against Patterson on Thursday.

Hornets lose to Patterson

The Franklin High School Hornets came up on the short end of an 8-4 loss to the Patterson Lumberjacks on Thursday before falling to the North Vermilion Patriots by scores of 16-4 and 17-0 in District 8-3A action on Saturday.
Franklin is currently 9-13-1 overall and 0-8 in District 8-3A action.
PATTERSON 8, FRANKLIN 4
Patterson collected six runs over the fifth and sixth innings on the way to the 8-4 win over Franklin on Thursday at the FSHS Baseball Field.
Franklin led 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning before Patterson rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth frame for a 4-3 advantage. Franklin knotted the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth frame before the Lumberjacks struck for four runs in the sixth frame to take the 8-4 win.
Leading hitters for Franklin were: Lamar Joseph, 2 for 3, 2 hits, 2 RBI; Hunter Seneca, 2 for 4, double; Jardyn McCoy, 1 for 4, RBI; Ruston Bertrand, 2 for 4, RBI and Brent Ina, 1 for 4, double, run.
Jardyn McCoy started on the hill for the Hornets, working two innings, giving up one run on one hit with one strikeout while facing seven batters.
Ina pitched five innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits with five walks and four strikeouts while facing 37 batters.
NORTH VERMILION 16, FRANKLIN 4 (Game 1)
North Vermilion swept a double-header from Franklin Saturday at the FSHS Baseball Field.
In the opener, the North Vermilion Patriots exploded for 10 runs in the top half of the first inning on the way to a 16-4 District 8-3A victory.
Leading hitters for Franklin included: Lamar Joseph, 2 for 3, RBI; William Moore, 1 for 2, run; Hunter Seneca, 1 for 3, run; Jamal Connor, 1 for 2, double; Jardyn McCoy, 1 for 3 and Ruston Bertrand, 1 for 3, double, RBI.
Hunter Seneca took the loss for Franklin after pitching 3.1 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts while facing 21 batters.
Bertrand also appeared for Franklin, facing 12 batters in two-thirds of an inning, yielding 10 runs on four hits, issuing three free passes.
NORTH VERMILION 17, FRANKLIN 0 (Game 2)
In the nightcap, North Vermilion posted a 17-0 victory over the Franklin Hornets.
Lamar Joseph went 1 for 2 while Brent Ina batted 1 for 1 as the leading hitters for Franklin.
Lamar Joseph was the starting pitcher for Franklin, working three innings, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on four hits with three walks while facing 20 batters.
J’Trell Connor relieved Joseph, working one-third of an inning, surrendering one run on two hits with two walks and one strikeout while facing five batters.
Hayden Seneca worked 1.1 frames with one strikeout while facing four batters.
Jardyn McCoy finished off the final one-third of an inning, facing nine batters, yielding seven runs (five earned) on four hits with three walks.
