Two arrested after drugs, cash found in search

Two Morgan City men were arrested Friday on drug charges after detectives searched a home and found marijuana, THC wax, THC gummies, hydrocodone pills, tramadol pills and more than $4,000 in cash, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—John F. Shibley, 49, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC wax with intent to distribute, possession of hydrocodone, possession of tramadol, transactions involving drug proceeds and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Randy J. Segura Jr., 30, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of THC wax.
Narcotics section detectives received a phone call from a business owner stating that a large bag of marijuana was seen in a dumpster. Detectives retrieved the bag and, through investigation, found that the marijuana came from the 200 block of Glenwood Street.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home where Shibley and Segura live and located several bags of high-grade marijuana, vials of THC wax, hydrocodone pills, tramadol pills and more than $4,000 in cash. Detectives also located bags of marijuana and a bag containing THC gummies in Segura’s room.
Continuing the investigation, detectives collected evidence that Shibley used his pick-up truck to sell the drugs and that the cash found at the home had come from the illegal sale of marijuana. The vehicle was also seized. The marijuana and THC wax detectives found at the location has an estimated street value of over $17,000.
Shibley was jailed with no bail set. Segura was released on a summons to appear in court June 13.
Hebert reported responding to 87 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Nikki Mayon, 35, of Francis Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 2:07 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with theft, Morgan City Court warrants for failure to appear on charges of improper lane usage and no insurance, and Patterson Mayor’s Court warrants for failure to appear on a charge of open alcoholic container in vehicles and driver’s license not on person and for failure to appear on charges of theft by shoplifting.
A deputy received information from a Morgan City marshal that a person who was wanted on warrants was at a business off U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy located the person, identified as Mayon, and located several active warrants for her arrest. The warrant for theft was issued following an investigation into a shoplifting complaint from a store in Bayou Vista. Mayon was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
—Terry Naquin, 39, of Ramos Street in Houma, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Saturday on a charge of felony theft of goods and on a warrant for criminal damage to property. A deputy conducting a security check at a store in Bayou Vista received information of a possible shoplifter.
The deputy located the suspect, identified as Naquin, and collected evidence that he attempted to leave the store without paying for several items. The items were valued at over $800 and included a 55-inch flat screen TV and a sound bar.
The warrant for Naquin’s arrest stems from an investigation into a disturbance that occurred at a home in 2015. The deputy found that Naquin threw an object through a window. Naquin was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Sophia R. Gonzalez, 20, of Chestnut Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 10 a.m. Friday on warrants charging her with DWI first offense, possession of marijuana first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gonzalez was arrested at the Morgan City jail on warrants. The warrants stem from two separate investigations. One incident occurred in June 2016 during which Gonzalez was involved in a vehicle crash in the area of Susan Drive. Gonzalez’ blood alcohol content during the crash was determined to be 0.12 grams-percent.
The second incident stems from an investigation conducted in July 2016 in which they came in contact with Gonzalez. During the investigation, officers located a large amount of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The evidence was seized pending further investigation which led to arrest warrants being issued for Gonzalez. Gonzalez was jailed.
—Wesley J. Pierron, 54, of Edwin Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:35 a.m. Friday on a charge of theft by shoplifting and on St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants charging him with criminal trespassing and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at an La. 182 business. Police learned that Pierron was seen concealing items of merchandise valued at $71.61 in a bag.
When Pierron attempted to leave the business, he was approached by management at which time he left the bag in the parking lot. Pierron was jailed.
—Nikki R. Mayon, 35, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:04 p.m. Friday on warrants charging her with no insurance and improper lane usage. Mayon was arrested at the police department on city court warrants. Mayon was jailed.
—Maritzela Martinez, 48, of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. Saturday on the charges of DWI second offense and improper lane usage.
While on patrol, officers were traveling behind a vehicle that was observed swerving on the roadway on La. 182. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Martinez. While speaking with Martinez, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
Martinez was taken to jail. Based on a chemical test, Martinez’ blood alcohol content was found to be 0.195 grams-percent, which is over the legal limit. Martinez was jailed.
—Asia M. Do, 22, of Pearl Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 9:05 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay a fine. Do was located at the police department on city court warrants. Do was jailed.
—Jared J. Bergeron, 35, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 10:53 a.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law and no turn signal.
While on patrol, police saw a vehicle turn without signaling in the area of Seventh Street and stopped the vehicle. Bergeron was identified as the driver of the vehicle. The officer detected that Bergeron was acting suspiciously during the stop.
Bergeron granted the officer consent to search him, and the officer located methamphetamine on him. The location where the incident took place is within a drug-free zone. Bergeron was jailed.
—Heidi R. Sams, 38, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of marijuana first offense, introduction of contraband into a penal facility and two brake lights required.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Railroad Avenue when a vehicle was observed with only one operable brake light and stopped the vehicle. Sams was identified as the driver.
During the investigation, the officer detected that Sams appeared to be nervous. Officers located suspected marijuana in plain view in the vehicle, and Sams allegedly immediately began to deny knowledge of the substance.
Sams was asked if she had any contraband on her at which time she indicated that she did not. Upon arriving at the jail, police found more suspected marijuana on Sams, who was jailed.
—Christian A. Brown, 39, of Mark Street in Pierre Part, was arrested at 5:14 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of marijuana first offense, driving under suspension and no turn signal.
While on patrol in the area of Maple Street, officers observed a vehicle failing to use its turn signal while negotiating several different turning maneuvers and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Brown.
Brown exited the vehicle and the officer observed suspected marijuana falling from his lap. The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and located more suspected marijuana. Brown was jailed.
—Steven C. Robison, 32, of Spottswood Circle in Palm Harbor, Florida, was arrested at 6 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A patrol officer was flagged down by a citizen in the area of Ditch Avenue and alerted to a person walking down the street with an alcoholic beverage, falling down and stumbling in the street. The officer obtained a description of the person, and located Robison, who fit the description, in the area.
The officer observed signs that Robison was intoxicated. Robison was jailed.
—James A. Davis Jr., 18, of Cardinal Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear for trial. Davis was located at the police department and arrested on a city court warrant. Davis was jailed.
—Carla J. Johnson, 55, of Marshall Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Saturday on the charge of felony domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to a complaint at a business on Federal Avenue in regard to a domestic disturbance. Police arrived and located the victim. The boyfriend of the victim told investigators that a battery had occurred. Police found Johnson, who was identified as the suspect, on Marshall Street. Johnson allegedly had a prior history related to domestic abuse battery. Johnson was jailed.
—Amber Cook, 33, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 11:10 a.m. Sunday on a warrant charging her with theft of a motor vehicle.
Cook was transported from the Patterson Police Department on an arrest warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by patrol officers in regard to a vehicle that was taken from a business in February. Cook was jailed.
—Alyssa K. Bane, 28, of La. 397 in Lake Charles, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery.
Correctional officers observed a fistic encounter between two inmates already incarcerated in the Morgan City jail. Investigators learned that Bane was allegedly the aggressor in the incident and allegedly attacked the victim. Bane remains jailed.
—Dat M. Duong, 49, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:23 p.m. Sunday on the charges of simple battery and remaining after being forbidden.
Patrol officers responded to a Bernice Street home in regard to a disturbance complaint. Officers arrived and learned that the homeowner wanted family members removed from the home. They were removed without incident.
Shortly after finishing the complaint, officers responded to another complaint in regard to a disturbance. Police located one of the people, identified as Duong, who had been removed during the prior complaint. Duong was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Teraneka White, 21, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:55 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with simple battery and disturbing the peace-language. White posted $556 bail.
—Destiny Bennett, 29, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:50 p.m. on the charge of simple battery. Bennett was released on $319 bail.
—Courtney Bennett, 33, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:20 p.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery. Bennett was released on $319 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Melissa Evans, 47, of Ninth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. Sunday on the charges of prohibited act-methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband into a penal institution, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, expired license plate and on St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants charging her with criminal damage to a coin-operated machine and illegal possession of stolen things. Evans was transferred to the Morgan City jail.
—Crystal Thompson, 38, of Field Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:02 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension and windshield view obstructed. Thompson posted $1,250 bail.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Amber Cook, 33, of River Road in Berwick, while incarcerated at Morgan City Police Department, was arrested at 11:10 a.m. Sunday on a 3rd Ward City Court warrant for failure to appear on traffic violations. Cook was jailed on $438.50 cash bail.
Chitimacha Police Chief Hal Hutchinson reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Asia Do, 22, of Oneida Street in Charenton, was arrested Friday on the charge of possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription and on three bench warrants for City Court of Morgan City charging her with contempt of court for failure to appear to pay a fine, failing to appear for child restraint violation first offense and failing to appear for stop sign violation.
She was transported to parish jail. Do was issued a citation for license plate light and driving under suspension. Officers observed a vehicle with violations and conducted a traffic stop, which resulted in an arrest.
