Drugs seen in dumpster; deputies arrest two men

Two persons were arrested Friday when a business owner found a large bag of marijuana in a dumpster.
Sheriff Mark Hebert reported that John F. Shibley, 49, of 225 Greenwood St., Morgan City, was arrested Friday at 5:15 p.m. on charges of possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute; possession of Schedule I (tetrahydrocannabinol or THC wax) with intent to distribute; possession of Schedule II (hydrocodone); possession of Schedule IV (tramadol); transactions involving drug proceeds; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Randy J. Segura Jr., 30, 225 Glenwood St., Morgan City, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of Schedule I (THC wax).
Detectives reportedly retrieved the bag and, through investigation, found that the marijuana came from 225 Glenwood St.. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence where Shibley and Segura live and reportedly located several bags of high grade marijuana, vials of THC wax, hydrocodone pills, tramadol pills and over $4,000 in cash.
Detectives also reportedly located bags of marijuana and a bag containing THC gummies in Segura’s room. Continuing the investigation, detectives collected evidence that Shibley used his pick-up truck to sell the drugs and the cash found at the residence had come from the illegal sale of marijuana. The vehicle was also seized.
The marijuana and THC wax detectives found at the location has an estimated street value of over $17,000. Shibley was held with no bail set. Segura was released on a summons.
