LC's Grogan earns all-conference honors

Three Louisiana College Wildcats received American Southwest Conference honors, including a Patterson High alum.
Former Patterson High standout and Louisiana College freshman Taylan Grogan earned East honorable mention honors and East All-Freshman Team honors, while senior teammate Raheem Regis earned second-team All-East Division honors and senior teammate Steve Evans netted East honorable mention honors.
Grogan averaged 13.6 points per game, second best for Louisiana College, and one of two freshmen to rank in the top 20 in scoring in the conference at season’s end. Grogan scored 300 points this season and led the team in 3-point field goals and free throws made. He was named East Division Player of the Week once after back-toback 29-point games against LeTourneau and the University of Texas at Tyler. These are Grogan’s first all-conference selections of his career.
Regis was one of the most dominant post players in the American Southwest Conference. He led the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding this season with 16.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He finished the season with 387 points and pull in 203 rebounds, the second most rebounds in a season since Louisiana College joined the American Southwest Conference in 2000. Reigs finished the season ranked 10th in the conference in scoring and tied for second in rebounding. He was one of four players to rank in the top 10 in both categories at the end of the year. Regis was named American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week three times during the season, one of just two players to win the award three times this year. The forward recorded nine double-doubles this season, scored in double figures in all but one game this year and missed five additional double-doubles, pulling in nine rebounds in a game.
Regis ended his Louisiana College career as one of just a handful of players to score more than 1,000 points and pull in over 500 rebounds in their career. This is Regis’ third end-of-season recognition from the American Southwest Conference. He was a member of the East All-Freshman Team in 2014 and an Honorable Mention All-Conference member last season.
Evans was riddled with injuries throughout the 2016-17 season, which forced him to miss more than half the year. In 11 games, Evans scored 137 points for a 12.5 point-per-game average and pulled in 77 rebounds, second most on the team. He averaged 7 rebounds per game. Evans ends his Louisiana College career with 791 points and 603 rebounds.
This is the second consecutive year he has received postseason honors from the American Southwest Conference. Last year, he was a member of the East Division Second Team and East All-Defensive Team.
