Storms pound St. Mary Parish

St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to several weather related calls from areas across the parish Wednesday including downed trees and power lines, street flooding and a structure fire that was possibly caused by a nearby power line/transformer. No deaths or injuries were reported in any of the incidents. Around noon, deputies responded to a call of a tree that had fallen across La. 182 between Centerville and Garden City. Armed with chainsaws, deputies cleared the tree. Pictured above is Lt. Bart Lange of the Marine Section. Also pictured are flooded streets within the City of Franklin. Large hail caused damage to vehicles, the lamp posts and roofs when the storm struck, and a tornado was reported in the Franklin and Centerville vicinity.
