LORETTA RITA SINITIERE DESLATTE

October 26, 1934 – May 10, 2019
Loretta Rita Sinitiere Deslatte passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, surrounded by family. She passed following a short battle with cancer at 84 years of age. Loretta was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Church of the Assumption beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at the church followed by interment in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Peter Emusa will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Lonny Deslatte, Teddy Deslatte, Brad Reinhart, Bret Reinhart, Brendan Sturgeon, and Collin Deslatte.
Loretta is survived by her loving husband of 65 ½ years, Larry L. Deslatte Sr.; four children, Dana Deslatte Parker of Franklin, Larry L. Deslatte Jr. of New Iberia, Daren Deslatte Reinhart and her husband Danny of Diamondhead, MS, and Lonny Deslatte and his wife Madeleine of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Tava Robicheaux, Tandra Hebert and husband John, Larry L. “Teddy” Deslatte III and wife Celeste, Terilyn Harrington and husband Reed, Brad Reinhart and wife Amanda, Cady Wolf and husband Glenn, Bret Reinhart, and Cali Reinhart; 11 great grandchildren, Rebekah Battaglio and husband Josh, Blaise Lott, Austin Hebert, Brendan Sturgeon, Collin Deslatte, Briana Roberts, MaKayla Hebert, Madelyn Deslatte, Johnaé Hebert, Xander Harrington, and Xavier Harrington, as well as another great grandson to be born later this year; four great great grandchildren, Blake Battaglio, Foster Sturgeon, Noah Battaglio, and Austin “A.J.” Hebert; her brothers, Brother David (E.J.) Sinitiere, F.S.C., Brother Emmett (Autry) Sinitiere, F.S.C., and David Sinitiere and his son Jason and granddaughter Sasha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Sinitiere and Beatrice LaJaunie Sinitiere; and a great granddaughter, Kailin Hebert.
Loretta was born in Franklin on October 26, 1934, the first of four children and only daughter born to Emmett Sinitiere and Beatrice LaJaunie Sinitiere. She attended St. John Academy and graduated as Class President and Salutatorian in 1952. At sixteen years old she met Larry, the love of her life, while working at the Center Theater in Franklin. They were married on November 21, 1953. After graduation she moved to New Orleans and attended Molar College of Cosmetology. She became a licensed beautician, working for Bessie Haydel at the Fashionette Beauty Salon until the birth of her first child. She was also a Poll Commissioner at LaGrange Elementary for many years and was a substitute teacher at St. John Elementary as well. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters Court Assumption, the Ladies Altar Society, and the Come Lord Jesus bible study. Loretta and Larry were also adorers at the Perpetual Eucharist Adoration Chapel from its inception on March 25, 1993, which is located on the campus of St. John Elementary. She had a lifelong love of movies and music and lamented that Karaoke did not exist in her youth for she would have loved it. Loretta and Larry were also original members of the Krewe of Teche Mardi Gras Krewe in Franklin.
