Official: Tourism vital to state’s economy

Louisiana has many attractions for state residents to visit in their own state and contribute to a multibillion dollar tourism industry that’s vitally important to the state’s economy, a tourism official said Wednesday. Laine Garner, vice president of sales, membership and education for Louisiana Travel Promotion Association, was guest speaker during the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce’s Rise-N-Shine event at Holiday Inn Express in Morgan City.
