Klutts Jewelers to close after 65 years
Owner Len Klutts has announced that Klutts Jewelers and Designers of Morgan City will close after 65 years.
Klutts' parents started the store in 1957 with an emphasis on custom design and honored the community by sponsoring a crawfish boil for the local and police departments and by supporting school yearbooks and graduation nights in Morgan City.
Len Klutts himself began working in the store at an early age and fondly recalls resizing rings for customers when he was 12. As the years passed and the business grew, it remained true to its roots as a family enterprise when the store passed from his parents to Len. Other family members came to work for the store as well, including a nephew who is a fifth generation jeweler.
“The greatest pleasure has been supporting our community, like the schools and police department,” Klutts said. "I’d like to thank everyone for their years of support and friendship. It really means the world to me and my family.”
The store is running a sale on items ranging from engagement rings to timepieces.
