Louisiana’s 200th year of statehood was celebrated on the grounds of Shadowlawn in Franklin Sunday by guests of the St. Mary Landmarks Society at its annual brunch and auction. Guests were joined by portrayers of famous people in the state’s history — Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, Sister Marie Madeleine Hachard, Gen. Andrew Jackson, Andres Almonester y Roxas, Jean Lafitte, and Baroness Micaela Almonester de Pontalba. Brunch was served by staff from the Forest Restaurant and the event was chaired by Maurye Aycock McCarthy.
