A mock car crash as the result of impaired driving was enacted recently as part of the Safe and Sober Prom Campaign for students of Franklin and Hanson high schools. Students as well as personnel from State Police Troop I, Franklin police and fire departments, the Sheriff’s Office, the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Franklin Marshal’s Office, Acadian Ambulance, Ibert’s Funeral Home, Mac Bruno Sound, MADD, the Red Ribbon Committee and St. Mary Parish School Board, took part in the crash. The Safe and Sober Prom campaign across St. Mary Parish has been successful for many years and plans are already under way for next year’s campaign. The mock crashes also were enacted at West St. Mary High School and in eastern St. Mary in advance of school proms.
