Sheriff: Meth, fake $100 bill found during stop

Two men were arrested after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives stopped a vehicle in Morgan City and located methamphetamine, a syringe and a fake $100 bill, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Quentin K. Henry, 30, of La. 182 in Centerville, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law and possession of drug paraphernalia
—Charles A. Lodrigue III, 37, of Jupiter Street, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of monetary instrument abuse.
Narcotics section detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Brashear Avenue in Morgan City after ob-serving the driver fail to signal several turns. Detectives made contact with several occupants inside the pick-up truck, including Henry and Lodrigue, and received consent to search the vehicle.
Detectives located methamphetamine and a syringe and collected evidence that the items belonged to Henry. After receiving consent to search Lodrigue, detectives discovered a fake $100 bill on him. Henry and Lodrigue were jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Leroy Bailey, 31, of Monroe, was additionally charged at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with distribution of Norco.
Bailey was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center when he was booked on the warrant. Bailey was listed among those wanted in the Spring Cleaning operation conducted in March 2016.
The warrants in that operation were obtained after conducting multiple long term undercover investigations led by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division with the assistance of Vermillion and Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Offices, Louisiana State Police, and Patterson and Morgan City police departments. The undercover operations targeted mid to low level drug dealers.
—Ricky J. Hayes, 52, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:34 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and simple battery.
Hayes was transported from the Morgan City Police Department jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail on the warrant is set at $2,500.
—Brad Wiggins, 34, of Long Wood Drive in Napoleonville, was arrested at 9:23 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with domestic abuse battery.
The 2014 warrant was issued following an investigation into a domestic disturbance that occurred at a home in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected evidence that Wiggins slapped a woman and bent her fingers during an argument. Wiggins turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin.
He was booked into parish jail and released after posting $100 bail set by a judge.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Frank J. Rock Jr., 29, of Morgan City, arrested at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A patrol officer was flagged down in the area of Federal Avenue in regards to a suspicious subject. Rock was located and upon the officer making contact with Rock he was found to be in an intoxicated state. Rock was jailed.
—Nicholas Paul Kapp, 22, of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, arrested at 10:48 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment and on a charge of no driver’s license.
Patrol officers observed a vehicle in the area of Greenwood Street, and the occupants were not wearing a seatbelt. Officers initiated a stop and Kapp was identified as the driver.
Kapp was found to have an active arrest warrant for 16th Judicial District Court. He also did not have a valid driver’s license. Kapp was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
